John Arthur has been teaching watersports in Southern California, the Caribbean, and Mexico for over 30 years. He is the founder and Chief Kiteboard Instructor of Manta Wind & Water Sports in San Diego. John founded the kiteboarding school in 1999 and has maintained a 100% safety record since he started teaching kiteboarding and wing foiling.

John Arthur is an IKO & PASA Certified and insured Kiteboarding Instructor. He was an advanced level Scuba Diving Instructor with PADI, NAUI, YMCA & CMAS. He was also a professional Wakeboard instructor for Club Med, and a certified CPR & First Aid Instructor with PADI.

John’s knowledge and sense of fun and adventure have helped shape MANTA Water Sports into the world-class instructional facility it is today. He believes in presenting each and every one of his students the safest and most practical approach to learning these exciting adventure sports.

I want my students to finish each lesson with big smiles, a sense of accomplishment, a respect for safety and the knowledge that they truly learned more than the expected — and they do.

John Arthur is San Diego’s only IKO & PASA certified kiteboading instructor. He founded Manta Water Sports, and started teaching kiteboarding in 1999. He has been teaching the new sport of Wing Foiling since 2019. John has maintained a 100% safety record the entire time. His undeniable passion for teaching water sports, shows in all his lesson programs. John's 30+ years of watersports instruction experience, is exemplified in all his kiteboard and wingfoil lesson programs. He teaches beginner to advanced level kiteboard lessons and beginner to intermediate wing foil board lessons, all year and he knows how to get you to ride quicker and safer.. Another perk of taking lessons with John, he continues to offer free advice on gear, and his numerous instructional tips to his past students, to aid them beyond their initial lesson.
